Add your brand skill to Claude or ChatGPT

The email from Prana IQ has one file attached, SKILL.md. It is a skill: Claude and ChatGPT load it when the work is about your brand. Pick where you use AI.

Before you start

  1. Save SKILL.md from the email into a new folder. Name the folder exactly what the name: line at the top of the file says, for example acme-robotics-brand-standards. The note at the top of the file repeats it.

  2. Keep the file name SKILL.md.

  3. If the file has open items marked INPUT NEEDED, fill them in first, or treat those colors and fonts as unconfirmed.

Add it to Claude

Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile

Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.

  1. Turn on Code execution and file creation: Settings, then Capabilities. On Team or Enterprise, an owner enables it in Organization settings, then Plugins and skills.

  2. Claude's upload asks for a ZIP of the folder. On a Mac, right click the folder and choose Compress. On Windows, right click the folder and choose Send to, then Compressed folder. The ZIP holds the folder, not the loose file.

  3. Open Customize, then Skills, then the plus button, then Create skill, then Upload a skill. Choose the ZIP and turn the skill on.

  4. Use it. Claude applies the skill when your request is brand work. To be sure, name it: "Use my Acme Robotics brand standards skill."

Claude Code

No ZIP. You put the folder in place yourself.

  1. Put the folder in ~/.claude/skills/ for every project. On Windows that path is %USERPROFILE%\.claude\skills\. For one repo only, put it in .claude/skills/ inside that repo.

  2. Start a new session. /skills lists it. Type /acme-robotics-brand-standards, or just ask.

  3. Skills turned on at claude.ai also sync into Claude Code when you sign in with the same Claude account.

Claude for Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

Skills that are on in your Claude settings appear in those apps. Type / and pick the skill, or describe the task.

Add it to ChatGPT

OpenAI lists Business, Enterprise, Healthcare, and Edu. Some paid plans have it in Work. Free and Go do not. An admin may need to allow uploads. If you do not see Skills, use No Skills on your plan below.

  1. Open Skills. In current ChatGPT that is Plugins, then Skills.

  2. Choose Create, then Upload from your computer. Choose SKILL.md. If the screen asks for a folder or a ZIP, send that instead. ChatGPT scans the file. It can come back Needs Review or Blocked.

  3. Install it, or turn it on.

  4. Use it. Type @acme-robotics-brand-standards in your message, or ask for brand work.

If upload is off, choose Create, then Create with editor, and paste the file. Check that the name and description at the top are filled in.
